Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. At the age of nine, Decker's family resided in Louisiana, where she won an annual regional talent competition with the cover of Patsy's "I I Want to be A Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker was a resident of Georgia in the year she turned aged 15. She was beginning to compose songs and made regular visits in Nashville. In search of an agreement, Decker visited record companies and music publishers. She was 17 when she caught the ear of the representative from independent label Big Yellow Dog Records who began shopping her songs to artists and labels. Decker was signed to a deal with Island/Def Jam after Mercury Records President David Massey passed her demos to L.A. Reid, head of Island/Def Jam. Then, in August of 2009 she launched her self-titled debut album, titled Jessie James. Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted the single which climbed the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker, who had considered herself to be a country artist in the past was shocked to discover that the album was not marketed and made with an eye at a mass audience. Decker was unable to gain control over her music made available after her two prior singles weren't very well-received. Decker's second album, announced in the form of Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was canceled following Mercury was disappointed by the performances of three of her singles on country radio charts.
