Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the US. Ashford is an actor or singer, as well as dancer. Her early Broadway shows include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie In You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working with famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will next be seen starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the national crisis that swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment trial in more than 100 years. In two seasons, Ashford was a star of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. She has also appeared in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original part in the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford is a Denver resident who splits his time between Los Angeles.
