The children were sleeping in the crib while I was strapped to one of them to my back. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were a few things to be done. To furnish the home it would be an enormous undertaking with regards to both time and funds. I would also have to go out and shop for my most-loved items. In order to stay within my budget, I began attending estate sales with my three sons to find gems hidden in the dirt. Each week we would spend Thursday to Saturday at estate sales and garage sales buying brand new furniture. After that, I repainted and smoothed the driveway throughout the week. The look was a little similar to this... Here is where my love for in the process of restoring old furniture got started. It didn't matter if the home was furnished. I had an area at the market, where I would sell things. Then, I ran out of many pieces to store in the room available. The number of people who visited my home in just one weekend, to shop for everything on the ground floor. Growing Days was founded in my own home. My business was not only thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. I was balancing the demands of what it was like starting a business while also being a mommy. Growing Days just fit. My sweet Nora came into the world in 2013, our fourth child. While I was pleased with the direction that my business was taking, I realized that I needed to take some time off. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and be at home with my kids. In the beginning, this was exactly what I needed. It rang once more after several minutes. They wanted my assistance in decorating and renovations. Most of them were people who walked into my house during my furniture open houses. The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients one by one with a speed I could be confident in. If you'd said to me that this company that I started would become the premise of a tv show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. As I reflect back, it still makes me smile.
